Wool warm hat - balaclava helmet

Warm wool hat are the must have for those who lives in cold climate. It’s about me:). Winter begins in November and ends in March here in Russia. I mean winter when temperature is bellow zero. Some time ago I felted scarf-cowl-hoodie of merino wool. It's nice for winter.

Recently I discovered that there is very similar design - helmet balaclava.
I read about it in Lana's blog. She likes knitting and crochet. You may find very interesting posts in her blog about how to knit, crochet, last fashion trends and many wonderful free patterns as well.
I have found excellent balaclava helmet free pattern here

She gave clear instructions how to knit helmet balaclava using basic knitting stitches.

I know that Balaclava is small beautiful town on the Black Sea coast in Crimea.

I found through internet that hekmet's name came from this town's name. British soldiers saved from cold wind and frost wearing such helmets during Crimean war (October 1853–February 1856).

Now warm hat helmet balaclava are very popular among snowborders, skiers, alpinists.

You may buy one from sport shop or knit or crochet of wool by yourself if you can. Here are my handmade felted hat - balaclava).

Freeform crochet jewelry - brooches and brooch / necklace

I have finished some crochet brooches. All of them made of mercerized cotton yarn with thin hook #1 in freeform technique.

Sometimes I have idea how it may look sometimes I just crochet and don't know how it turn out. So these small crochet jewelries is really unique and one-of-a-kind and impossible to make a copy. The secure brooch pin is on the back of brooch. The first brooch includes crochet cord to wear like necklace-pendant.

New crocheted necklaces, sea inspired

Two more freeform crocheted necklaces which I fifnished recently. I'm so excited with result and will experiment more to find out new styles, materials and possibilities. Crochet jewelry is now my second passion after felting).

"Purple corals" - "corals" was crocheted from cotton, embelished with many seed beads (oh, it took so much time!) with metal chain and clasp.

Crocheted freeform jewelry and trip to the south

I was travelling during last two week. In the car, on the beach, in the evening at campin I was crocheting, so now I have several unfinished projects of freeform crocheted necklaces from yarn and different beads - gemstone, glass, coral. I'm going to finish all of them soon. Here they are -

And now about our trip. We left Moscow early in the morning and drove to the south. After 1.5 days we arrived to  new rock-climbing place near village Guamka on the north of Caucasus mountains. There is small river in the canyon -

All climbong spots difficult to find in the forest. One time we found and climbed there. One time we could not find but found mushrooms in the forest near the river.

After this we moved to other rocks "Induk" (turkey). The road to top waS too steep, we drove up throw the forest almost where the rocks begun -

Last meters to good place for camping we went by foot, there was no road more.

This is one of rocks on the top -

After 2 days we went to Black Sea coast -

And then we decided to move to Azov Sea which is very good for kids because of its sand beaches. It's very beautiful place Dolzhanskaya spit. We walked and swimmed and one day hubby rent kayak and went to the end of spit and made pictures of birds.

During the way to home we stayed for two days in beautiful place near city Elets 450km from Moscow and had great time climbing and walking.

This the longest post I have even written:)) Thank you for reading and sorry for the mistakes!
